The Amicus Botanicus Exhibition
“A Brush with Nature”
The exhibition entitled 'A Brush with nature' was opened on 26th May 2010 by Rosemary Alexander, founder and principal of the English Gardening School. Paintings and prints from all the members of the group were on display. We had many visitors from all over the world who left some wonderful comments in our guest book.
Of particular interest was the display of prints taken from original watercolours by Mary Ellen Taylor. These were of critically endangered birds and their habitat in the Galapagos Islands. The work was commissioned by the Galapagos Conservation Trust. The display included photographs of her trip and an explanation of the important work of the Trust and why it is necessary. Mary Ellen gives part of the proceeds from the sales of prints and cards to the Trust.
Below are some comments from our visitors book:
"The paintings are just breathtaking" - Dr Vinay Becshea
"A lovely show full of expertise" - A F S Mitchell
